Beastwich

L’Ouvrier Chef Appreciation Night: Nick auf der Mauer

5-course tasting menu ft. food from @PorchettaAndCo's @NickaufderMauer.

Earlier this year L'Ouvrier hostes their third dinner of a series featuring different chefs from all over the city, this night they featured Nick, the owner of Porchetta and Co. $35 for 5 courses, what a deal! Nothing fancy, fried chicken for the main, but man was it some good eats.

 

Cream of Tomato & Lobster Bisque, Tarragon Cream

 

Easily my favourite dish of the night. If the whole porchetta sandwich business doesn't work out, I see a future in perogies! So good!

Pork Belly and Perogie, Truffle Sour Cream, Cracklings

 

Open Faced Tuna Fish Sandwich, Tomato Sauce, Preserves

 

Fried Chicken, Mexican Cheddar Hush Puppies, Pickled Jalapenos

Canoe - Dessert Time

Late night desserts @Oliver_Bonacini's Canoe. Thanks @suzamarie4 for the icecream! #GoodEats

After a great meal, and a walk around the neighbourhood, my friend and I decided to drop in on Canoe for some dessert. We got the classic sticky toffee pudding, and took a sneak peak at the new tasting menu, Taste Corn, with the corn clafoutis. The smoke marshmellow ice cream from the red velvet cake dessert caught my friend's eye, and the staff were nice enough to endulge us with a scoop of it. Best ice cream ever!

Never would have thought of corn for a dessert ingedient, but this came out surprisingly delightful. It's a very playful dessert. 

 

Sticky Toffee Date Pudding

Always a favourite when I go to Canoe!

 

Smoked Marshmallow Ice Cream

Just a perfect little scoop of icecream to end things off.
